Varicose Vein Treatment Options
If home remedies are not providing sufficient relief, several medical treatment options are available to address varicose veins. A vascular evaluation helps determine the most appropriate treatment based on vein size, location, and symptom severity.
Endovenous Ablation
Endovenous ablation uses heat to close the affected vein, allowing blood to reroute to healthier veins. Also known as Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA), this minimally invasive treatment is highly effective and typically involves little discomfort and a short recovery period.
Microphlebectomy
Microphlebectomy removes varicose veins through small incisions along the affected area. The damaged veins are gently extracted, and the procedure is often combined with other vein treatments to improve overall results.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy involves injecting a sclerosant solution into the varicose veins, causing them to close and gradually be absorbed by the body. Blood flow is redirected to healthier veins, making this a commonly used and effective treatment option.
Vein Stripping
Vein stripping involves tying off or removing severely damaged veins through small incisions. This approach is typically reserved for advanced or complex cases of varicose veins.
VenaSeal
VenaSeal is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure used to treat varicose veins and venous insufficiency. Ultrasound guidance is used to deliver a medical adhesive into the affected vein. Gentle external pressure closes the vein, after which the catheter is removed and a bandage is applied. The treated vein is safely sealed, allowing blood to flow through healthier veins.
